Smiling Student Outdoors

Build Your Skills. Serve Your Community. Make a Meaningful Impact.

At Pennock Center for Counseling, we are excited to support the next generation of mental health professionals to strengthen their clinical skills while gaining a deeper understanding of community-based mental health care.

The Clinical Internship Program provides graduate student interns with meaningful, hands-on experience in a group practice counseling environment. Our interns use the knowledge and skills gained through their academic training and apply them to the real-world experience of working directly with clients. As part of the Pennock team, interns gain valuable clinical experience while joining in our mission of supporting and strengthening the well-being of our community.

Pennock Center for Counseling serves individuals, couples, families, children (ages 10+), and adolescents with a variety of mental health needs and life experiences.

  • Developing treatment plans, clinical documentation, and clinical consultation skills.

  • Building therapeutic relationships and strengthening counseling skills.

  • Understanding the clinical and administrative responsibilities involved in providing mental health services in a group practice setting.

  • Connecting clients with appropriate resources and community support.

  • Providing accessible, community-based mental health care.

Supervision, Mentorship & Professional Growth

An internship should be more than completing required clinical hours. At Pennock, we help interns to develop the confidence, skills, and professional foundation they need for the next stage of their careers.

Our goal is to create an environment where interns feel supported while developing the independence, critical-thinking skills, and clinical judgment necessary to grow as therapists. Interns receive weekly individual supervision, as well as weekly clinical consultation meetings with the clinical staff.
